Life Coaching
What does a life coach actually do?

A great life coach does two things: helps you get clear on what you actually want, and then helps you clear whatever's been in the way of having it. That's it. It's not about being told what to do, it's not about accountability spreadsheets, and it's definitely not about a ten-step plan. It's about genuine, lasting change at the level where change actually happens. I work with clients in London, across the UK and worldwide, and the work is the same wherever someone is in the world.

Who do you work with and what do they have in common?

I've coached everyone, homeless people, billionaires, a British boxing champion, wealthy families, entrepreneurs, creatives and all manner of people who want to change including clients based in London, across the UK, in Los Angeles and all over the world. What they share is never a background, a postcode or a bank balance. It's a genuine desire to close the gap between where they are and where they want to be. That desire is the only thing that's ever mattered. Over 50 five-star Google reviews and counting, from clients on multiple continents, tend to suggest the approach works.

How do I know if I need a life coach?

If you keep having the same thoughts, the same conversations, or the same results, and you can't seem to shift it on your own, that's the clearest sign. Most of my clients arrive knowing exactly what they want but feeling like something invisible keeps pulling them back. That's exactly what my brand of life coaching is designed to solve. Whether you're in London, elsewhere in the UK, in the US or anywhere else in the world, the pattern is always the same.

What's the most common block you see in your life coaching practice?

Underneath almost everything I see, there's a deep-seated belief that they don't quite deserve what they want. It shows up as procrastination, self-sabotage, staying small, choosing the wrong people, but the root is almost always the same. Once you clear that, the change that follows can be remarkable, and it happens faster than people expect. I see this in clients in London, across the UK and in the US. It doesn't matter where someone lives, how successful they look from the outside, or even what's happening in the world around them. The block is internal, and so is the solution.

What's your own story. How did you come to do this work & become one of London's top life coaches?

I ran a successful recruitment company for over a decade, but in 2008 I had a breakdown that kept me off work for nearly two years. It was the kind of collapse that forces you to look at everything. And I did.

I spent the next fifteen years doing the most intensive personal development work you can imagine. Unbelievably, even to me, I was coached for an average of an hour a day, almost every single day, for ten straight years. What I discovered in that time became the foundation for everything I do now: the Hero Process, my proprietary methodology for getting people what they want. I built it for myself first, out of necessity. It just turned out it worked for everyone else too. That experience, going through the breakdown, doing the work, building a methodology from the inside out, is why I do this work. I became a life coach because I lived the transformation first.

I'm now based in London, work with clients across the UK and worldwide, and have over 50 five-star Google reviews from people whose lives have genuinely changed. There are a few things that make me one of London's top life coaches. They are the quality and relative number of my life coaching reviews, combined with the dozens of other life coaches I've coached and mentored 121 over the years. The breakdown was the best thing that ever happened to me. I've never been more certain of anything.

Manifestation & the Law of Attraction
Does manifestation actually work?

In my experience as a manifestation coach, working with hundreds of clients over more than a decade, yes, it works. But not the way most people try to do it. When someone does the internal work properly, changes their emotional state at a deep level, and clears what's been blocking them, the external results can be extraordinary. I've watched it happen too many times to doubt it. I've seen it with clients in London, across the UK, in Los Angeles, and all over the world. The geography doesn't change the outcome. The internal work does.

Why isn't the Law of Attraction working for me?

Because you're doing it from the neck up. The Law of Attraction responds to your emotional state, not your thoughts. If you're trying to visualise abundance while feeling fear or lack underneath, you'll attract more fear and lack, regardless of how positive your thinking looks on the surface. The feeling is the signal. That's the piece almost everyone misses, and it's the piece that the Hero Process is built around.

What's the missing piece to manifestation that most people never hear about?

Clearing. You can set intentions, visualise, affirm, and it still won't work consistently if old blocks, fears and wounds are running in the background. The missing step is doing the clearing work first. That's what the Hero Process addresses directly, and why it gets results where other approaches don't. Once those old patterns are gone, things start moving in ways that used to seem like luck, or coincidence, or impossible.

What does a top London manifestation coach actually do differently?

Most manifestation coaching stays at the surface, vision boards, affirmations, positive thinking. That's fine as far as it goes, but in my experience it rarely goes far enough, for two primary reasons. First, people don't understand the process fully, including the importance of persistent focus and feeling. Second, it's crucial to work at the level of feeling rather than thought. For most people that means becoming who you want to be first.

To that end, I use the Hero Process and the Feel It Process, tools I've developed and refined over more than a decade of working with hundreds of clients in London, across the UK and worldwide. These tools provide a roadmap and help to clear the emotional blocks, wounds and beliefs that are quietly cancelling out everything someone is trying to manifest.

Once those are cleared, the results can be extraordinary, miraculous even, and the seemingly impossible becomes reality.

Can you manifest something specific, love, money, a new career?

Yes and I've seen all three happen with clients. You can manifest whatever you want and are in alignment with. And therein lies the clue to what makes manifestation tick. You need to be, or come, into alignment with what you want. It's the feeling, frequency and state you're manifesting from. Someone who has genuinely cleared their blocks around love, money or success and raised their baseline as to what they believe is possible for them, that person starts attracting what they want almost as a side effect of who they've become.

Finding Your Purpose
Does everyone really have their own secret mission or life purpose?

Yes. Every single person I've ever worked with has one. I call it a secret mission because for most people it's genuinely hidden, not because it doesn't exist, but because life, conditioning and other people's expectations have buried it. It's always there. Finding it is one of the core pillars of the Hero Process, my approach to life purpose coaching. And once someone starts living in alignment with it, there's a quality to their life, a sense of rightness, that's unlike anything else they've ever experienced.

Is life purpose really the hero's journey?
It's the best framework I know for describing what actually happens. You leave what's comfortable and familiar, you face everything that's been in the way, the fears, the doubts, the old identity, and you return transformed. That's the hero's journey, and it's exactly what living your true purpose requires. It's not metaphor. It's a precise description of what my life purpose coaching clients go through. It's also why I named my methodology the Hero Process.

Why do most people never find their life purpose?

The truth is that people tend to do one of 3 things. They look for it in the wrong places. They bemoan not being able to find it and yet when the solution is offered they run away from it. Or they don't look at all and never even ponder the question.

Deep down I believe that it's just too big for some people to even contemplate. The prospect of the presumed accompanying major life changes too big, and yet it really isn't like that at all. If anything it's the opposite and part of my job is to educate people about that.

Most people have been taught to build a career around what they're good at, or what pays well, or what their parents expected. Purpose rarely lives there. It tends to live in what you can't stop thinking about, what breaks your heart a little when you see it neglected in the world, what you'd do even if nobody paid you. Most people have been too busy surviving to listen for that signal. Life purpose coaching exists precisely to help people slow down enough to hear it.

You say that life purpose comes in bite-sized amounts, explain that.

Whilst most people who are searching for their life purpose expect something huge like save the planet, the truth is that life purpose usually starts off much smaller. It has to be that way else most people would short-circuit, become overwhelmed and never even get started.

That's not to say it won't stretch and push you though, because it will. Life purpose usually feels right, exciting and daunting all at the same time. Part of the purpose of life purpose is after all to help you grow and become more of the person you'd like to be. It's not meant to be easy and it's not meant to be showstoppingly overwhelming either.

Can you give me some examples of the life purposes your clients have found?

They're always personal, always specific, and they often surprise people. The one thing they have in common is that they're always bigger than just being about us.

The first iteration of my own life purpose was to stand tall and proud, and to spread light and love around the world. That took me on a journey of overcoming my fear of public speaking and getting up on stage to spread my message.

One client discovered her purpose was to help a million people, although she first came to me wanting a million pounds. Another's was to create beautiful and sacred spaces. One was to build a business that made a real difference to its customers and the world around them. Others found their purpose was to raise extraordinary children. One client realised their purpose was to help and educate people around money, having spent many years in finance themselves. Another found theirs was to change how organisations treat people.

Many, but not all, of these things were already known by, or familiar to the client, but they only really fully found their life purpose by doing the inner work first. That's what life purpose coaching makes possible.

Without exception, when their life purpose came to them, it felt right at such a deep level that there was no doubt they had found it.

Career & Success
I feel stuck in my career. Where do I even start?

Start by getting honest about what you actually want, not what's realistic, not what makes sense on paper, or financially, and not what other people think you should want. Most people feel stuck because they genuinely are hamstrung by external demands alongside their own fears, doubts and insecurities. Once you work on yourself and clear some of those emotions, it becomes easier to get clear on what you genuinely want, and then the path starts to reveal itself. With my career coach hat on this is one of the most common things I work on with clients, whether they're in London, elsewhere in the UK or on the other side of the world.

How do I make a major career change without it all falling apart?
The internal work comes first. Most people try to make a big career leap while carrying the same fears, the same self-doubt and the same old patterns that held them back in the previous chapter. Clear those first and the practical decisions become much easier. The leap feels different when you've done the inner groundwork, less like jumping into the unknown and more like stepping into something that was waiting for you.
What separates people who achieve big goals from those who don't?

It almost never comes down to talent, intelligence or opportunity. What separates the people who get there is their relationship with themselves, their sense of self-worth, their ability to handle discomfort, and their belief that what they want is actually available to them. I've worked with extraordinarily talented people who couldn't get out of their own way, and so-called ordinary people who went on to do remarkable things. The difference is always internal.

How do you deal with imposter syndrome?

Imposter syndrome is a feeling, not a fact. And like any feeling, it can be changed, not managed, changed. The typical advice is "fake it till you make it" or "just take action anyway." That can work, but sometimes the fear or resistance is just too much and we end up staying stuck, playing small or self-sabotaging in any of a million ways.

What actually works is changing the underlying belief driving the feeling. Once that shifts, using the Feel It Process or similar deep emotional work in a life coaching context, the imposter syndrome doesn't get managed. It dissolves. I've seen this happen repeatedly in my coaching practice in London and with clients worldwide, people who looked completely confident from the outside and were quietly riddled with imposter syndrome on the inside.

Is it possible to build a career you genuinely love?

Not only is it possible, it's the only sustainable option. People who are doing work they genuinely love outperform, out-endure and out-create people who are just showing up for the salary. The challenge is that most people have been taught to treat that idea as a luxury rather than a priority. It isn't. It's the foundation. Career coaching built around this principle is some of the most rewarding work I do.

What's the difference between a life coach and a career coach?

In truth, the best career coaching is life coaching. You can't fully separate the two. Your career doesn't exist in isolation from who you are, what you believe about yourself, what you think you deserve or what you're afraid of. A career coach who only looks at CVs, job titles and strategy is working at the surface. The real work, the work that actually moves people, is always deeper than that.

When I work with someone on their career, we're inevitably working on their confidence, their self-worth, their relationship with money, their fear of being seen, their patterns around success. That's life coaching. The career is the vehicle. The person is the work.

Whether someone comes to me as a life coaching client or a career coaching client, the process is fundamentally the same. And I can honestly say that the same is true for my clients in London, LA or indeed anywhere else around the world.

How can career coaching help me get what I really want?

Most people who come to me for career coaching already know, somewhere deep down, what they really want. The problem isn't usually information or even strategy. It's the gap between knowing and doing. That gap is always emotional, fear, self-doubt, old beliefs about what's possible for someone like them, or what they're allowed to want.

What career coaching does, when it's done properly, is close that gap. Not by giving you a plan, but by changing the internal conditions that have been keeping you where you are. Once those shift, the practical stuff, the decisions, the conversations, the moves, becomes far less daunting and far more obvious. I've watched people go from completely stuck to completely transformed in a matter of months. The career change was almost the easy part.

What makes you one of London's top career coaches?

A few things. The quality and relative number of my reviews. I have over 50 five-star Google reviews from real life and career coaching clients whose lives and careers have genuinely changed. The fact that I've coached dozens of other coaches and mentored them 121 over the years, which tells you something about the level I work at. And the results. Not the promise of results, the actual results, evidenced by real people talking about their real experiences on my podcast, my YouTube channel and in those reviews.

I was also the active founder of a recruitment consultancy with offices in London and Birmingham for 14 years. In that time I coached many thousands of people around a multitude of career challenges including finding their next job, wholesale career changes, getting a promotion, dealing with difficult bosses and one of my favourites, how to impress your new boss in the first 100 days. We made coaching our interviewees and sometimes even our clients a unique differentiator, so I have a wealth of lived experience of what works and doesn't work in the real world.

But if I'm honest, what I think makes the biggest difference is that I've done the work myself. I came to it through my own breakdown, my own reinvention after finally leaving my own business and career in recruitment, and fifteen years of the most intensive personal development work you can imagine.

I know what it actually takes to change direction and build something that means something. That lived experience is in every session I do, with every client, whether they're sitting across from me in London or on a call from the other side of the world.

Getting Unstuck & Changing Your Life
Why is it so hard to change?

Because most people try to change their behaviour without changing their internal state. Behaviour is downstream of belief, and belief is downstream of feeling. If you try to act differently without addressing what's driving the old pattern, you'll keep snapping back. Real change happens at the level of feeling, not willpower. That's why most self-help doesn't stick, it targets the wrong layer. The Hero Process works at the right layer. That's the whole point of it.

How do I break a pattern I keep repeating?

Every repeating pattern has a root. Something is driving it, usually a belief, a wound, or an unmet need that's been running in the background for years. The pattern keeps showing up because the root hasn't been addressed. Once you find it and clear it, the pattern typically stops on its own. You don't have to fight it. You just have to go to the source. If patterns can be created they can most definitely be dissolved. The best life coaches will have the tools and techniques to help you do so and moreover implement healthy new patterns and beliefs that'll take you where you want to go.

What's the difference between someone who transforms their life and someone who doesn't?

Willingness. Not willpower, willingness. Willingness to look honestly at what's actually going on, to feel what needs to be felt, and to let go of the story that's been keeping them safe but small. Most people know what they need to do. The gap is between knowing and doing. That gap is always emotional. It's rarely about not knowing.

Some things we can work through ourselves, but we all have stubborn patterns, beliefs, fears and insecurities that resist solo effort. That's not weakness. That's just how deep patterns work. I've had multiple life coaches myself over the years and I genuinely wouldn't have made half the progress I have without them. The difference a great life coach makes, when you're truly ready to do the work, is extraordinary.

What if I've tried everything and nothing has worked?

Most people who've tried everything and still feel stuck aren't failing. They're just working at the wrong level. In my life coaching practice I see this constantly, people who've done years of therapy, read every book, gone to every workshop, and still can't shift it.

There are usually two reasons. There's more to clear than they realise. And the approaches they've tried work at the level of thought or behaviour rather than feeling. If the true root cause hasn't changed, the results won't either. That's where the real work is, and it's exactly where most approaches don't go. It's also where the Hero Process begins and why life coaching with the right coach can have such a profound impact even where everything else has failed.

How long does it actually take to change your life?

Faster than most people think. I've seen genuine, measurable shifts in people within weeks. That said, real transformation isn't a moment, it's a direction. The initial breakthroughs can come quickly, but the deeper work, fully becoming who you want to be, unfolds over months. Most of my clients see the biggest changes in the first two to three months. Then it compounds from there. I work with clients in London, across the UK and worldwide, and the timeline is consistent wherever someone is starting from.

Happiness, Burnout & Wellbeing
Why are so many people unhappy even when their life looks good on paper?

Because happiness isn't a product of circumstances. It's an internal state, and if your internal baseline is low, if you've been conditioned to expect a certain level of wellbeing, if you're in fear or struggle, then nothing external will move it for long. The salary, the relationship, the house, they create a temporary lift, then the baseline reasserts itself. Real happiness is built from the inside. That's not a platitude. It's a practical observation from over a decade of working as a life coach with people at both ends of the wealth spectrum, in London, in Los Angeles and everywhere in between.

What causes burnout and how do you actually recover from it?

Burnout is rarely just about overwork. Underneath it, there are usually deeper issues and misalignment at play. Doing work that doesn't mean anything to you, trying to meet standards that were never really yours, or running from something rather than toward something are just a handful of possible reasons.

In 2008, I had a burnout and was unable to work for two long years. In time, I came to finally ask myself why I had been pushing myself so hard. The deepest answer was that I didn't feel loved enough by my Dad and I was working hard, making more money and obtaining more status to try to get that from him. I only found out later that you can never fill that hole with anything external, and even him subsequently giving me lashings of attention wouldn't have sufficed.

As such, you can see why recovery from burnout isn't just about rest, though rest matters. It's reconnecting with what actually drives you and healing the parts of you that need it. Without that, most people just recover and then burn out again.

A top life coach or burnout coach will help you get to the root cause of your own burnout, or if you hire one soon enough, help you avoid it altogether. They'll help you change your self-worth, beliefs and patterns, fill the hole you have and allow you to live a life for yourself.

You speak from personal experience on breakdown and burnout. What do you want people to know?

It can be the best thing that ever happens to you. I know that sounds strange to say, but my burnout and breakdown in 2008 was the beginning of everything that matters in my life now. It was the thing that forced me to stop, look at what was actually going on, and do the real work. I'm not glad it happened, it was brutal. But I'm deeply grateful for what it led to. If you're in one right now, the most important thing I can tell you is: there is a way through, and it doesn't have to take fifteen years. That journey is why I became a life coach. It's why I do this work. And it's the foundation of everything in the Hero Process.

How do you actually raise your happiness levels, not temporarily, but for good?

By raising your internal baseline, the default position you return to. Most happiness advice is about improving your circumstances or changing your thinking. Getting more stuff is a sugar pill. Changing your thinking and mindset can be a powerful tool but neither of those touches the baseline you return to regardless of what happens. To move that, you have to work at the feeling level and find and face the parts of yourself that don't feel happy as they are.

My clients report an average 20% increase in joy within two months. That's not necessarily because their lives have dramatically and materially changed. It's because their internal baseline has shifted and they're excited about life again. That result is consistent whether I'm working with someone in London, in New York or anywhere else in the world.

What's the relationship between stress and the life we're trying to build?

Chronic stress is almost always a signal of misalignment, you're trying to build something using an approach, or in a direction, that you have resistance to or isn't truly yours. Short-term stress is normal and manageable. It can even be a useful motivator to get things done. But when it's relentless and affecting you and even your productivity, it's telling you something.

The people I work with who eliminate chronic stress don't typically do it by managing the stress better, although that can play a part. Better nutrition, diet and sleep can definitely mitigate stress as they support the adrenals. They do it by getting to the root causes of why they feel stressed, understanding their drivers, why they're doing what they're doing in the way they're doing it, and ultimately by getting so aligned with what they actually want that they finally feel good about what they're doing.

Happiness, Burnout & Wellbeing
Why do so many people keep attracting the wrong partners?

Because attraction is driven by familiarity, not compatibility. We tend to attract people who match our internal emotional landscape, our wounds, our beliefs, our sense of self-worth. Our partners tend to reflect aspects of our relationship with Mum and/or Dad, no matter how much we might fight against it. If that landscape hasn't changed, the pattern repeats regardless of how different the next person appears on the surface.

I reframe this in a positive way with my clients. How else can the Universe help us heal our wounds and issues? The work isn't learning to choose better. That tends to come naturally as a byproduct of becoming someone who doesn't carry that wound or need anymore. As a life coach and relationship coach I've seen working at the root level in this way shift the partners clients are open to and attract completely. Want to attract better partners? Do the deep internal work with a good coach.

Can coaching actually help you find love?

Yes, working with the right life or relationship coach will absolutely help you find love. I've seen it happen repeatedly. Not because coaching is a magic bullet, but because of the following reasons and a few more besides.

Going inside and working on yourself. Uncovering your fears, doubts and insecurities around having a loving relationship. Clearing your blocks. Raising your self-worth. Becoming clear on what you genuinely want. Finding the strength to create any necessary boundaries. All of these things change the signal you're putting out.

People who've done that work tend to attract very differently. The relationship they find afterwards is often nothing like the ones they were used to, in the best possible way. When the work is done and you've learnt to love yourself, the external world and a loving relationship has to reflect that.

What's the most important relationship you can work on?

The one with yourself. I know that sounds like a self-help cliché, but it's true. How you treat yourself, what you believe you deserve, how comfortable you are with your own company, all of that directly shapes every relationship you have. People who do the work on their relationship with themselves consistently report that their relationships with others improve, often without those relationships being directly addressed in coaching at all.

I also want to add something else to this, because most of our relationships are informed largely by our relationship with our parents. So yes, working on yourself is the most important thing, but working on how Mum and Dad made you feel is so important too. Interestingly, that doesn't mean you need to address things directly with them. Rather, do the inner work on yourself and that changes things with them and with the rest of the world.

Can an existing relationship be transformed, or is it sometimes just over?

Both are possible, and the honest answer is that doing the internal work first is the only way to find out which one is true. I've worked with people who came to coaching convinced their relationship was beyond saving, and watched it transform once they changed. I've also worked with people who came wanting to save a relationship and realised, through the work, that it was the right thing to leave. Relationship coaching doesn't tell you what to do. It helps you get clear enough to know yourself.

Why do high-achieving people often struggle most in relationships?

Because the skills and issues that might drive someone to be, or make them successful professionally such as: control, self-sufficiency, high standards, relentlessness, and yes even not feeling good enough as they are, are often the exact opposite of what intimacy requires.

Vulnerability, surrender, accepting imperfection, being truly seen, time, self-love and presence. High achievers often have the most sophisticated defence mechanisms, and those defences don't switch off at the front door. It's one of the most common patterns I see across my coaching work in London, the UK and internationally, and one of the most rewarding to work with.

These are starting points, not a script. Adam is at his best in a genuine conversation and will always bring it somewhere real, practical and memorable.
