Core Tools at the
Heart of the Process

What It Is

A way to take charge of your own life, and get what you want.

The Hero Process is a methodology I created over more than a decade of coaching hundreds of people. It is a way to find happiness, find and live your life purpose, and ultimately get what you really want.

The Hero Process puts the power back firmly in your hands. It gives you a set of tools and a methodology or process that allows you to identify what you want, see what is really standing between you and it, and then move towards it. Once you have learnt it, you can put your mind to pretty much anything, and it will help you get there. Work with it for long enough and you will gradually become the hero of your own life, save yourself and become the person you always wanted to be with the life you wanted to have.

It works at two levels at the same time.

At the surface, it helps you set clear goals, follow your intuition and work through whatever is blocking you until you can take the right next step.

Underneath, it teaches you how to see beneath the blocks, the triggers, and the patterns that have quietly been running your life, and to address the root causes, changing your future and becoming more of the person you want to be.

If any of that sounds familiar, you are probably exactly who this work is for.

Why I called it the Hero Process

It is a direct nod to the Hero's Journey. In fact, the Hero Process is the Hero's Journey.

You know this story. A solitary figure searching for something. A call to adventure, sudden and unexpected, full of promise and danger. A journey that tests everything, character, courage, and resolve. A final reckoning that demands the hero give everything they have. And then, transformed, a return home. This narrative template has driven human storytelling since the beginning of recorded time, from ancient myth to the films and television we watch today. It is known as the monomyth, or the Hero's Journey, and it lives in us because it is not just a story. It is the pattern of real human growth.

To get what you really want in life, you have to leave your comfort zone and go on a quest. On that quest, you will meet your dragons. The Hero Process gives you the map and the tools to make that journey, and to come out the other side as the person you always wanted to be.

The Quest

Stepping outside the safety of what you know and going after the thing you actually want. Most people never start. The Hero Process is what gives you the structure to begin and the tools to keep going.

The Dragons

The fears, the doubts, the insecurities that stand between you and the treasure. They are the parts of you that have to be faced, fought, and overcome. They are the real obstacle, not the world out there.

The Treasure

Yes, the treasure can be financial. Yes, it can be gold. But more importantly, it is you becoming the person you always wanted to be, and living the life you always wanted to live.

The Hero Process is the journey. You are the hero. Adam is the guide who has walked it with hundreds of people before you.

How It Began

From the outside it looked great. Inside was a different story.

I spent most of my adult life striving for success. I set up a recruitment company in 2001 and ran it for about fourteen years. At the peak I had fourteen people working for me, two offices, a flashy sports car, a big house in Greenwich, London. From the outside, everything looked great.

Inside was a different story, although to be honest I did not really realise it at the time. I was hiding from myself in my business. I would work so hard during the week that by the weekend I was too tired to go out. I had created this busy world I could safely get lost in. A lot of people do that in one way or another, whether through work, family, a hobby or something else. They keep themselves too occupied to ever have to spend time in situations they find uncomfortable or to look at how they really feel.

What I did not know then was that my life was already trying to tell me something. The signs had been there for a long time. I just was not listening.

It took a breakdown that kept me off work for two years, and came close to costing me my company, before I finally stopped to ask the question my entire life is now built around.

01

The Mushrooms

I am ashamed to say that prior to my burnout I had mushrooms growing out of a dark, deep crack in my shower tray. They taunted me. Multiple mushrooms, for somewhere between six and nine months. I did nothing about it.

The cleaner cut them back once or twice. They grew again. I just kept showering. The truth is I was so focused on building my career and my life up to a point where I felt good enough that I could not allow anything to distract me from that mission.

And at the same time I had become very good at avoiding anything that felt uncomfortable in my personal life, so dealing with something as domestic as a shower tray was never going to happen. I hid in my work. I did not do this inner work back then, and I never once stopped long enough to ask what was really going on underneath.

02

The Warning Light

A red warning light flashed on and off in that flashy sports car for months. I ignored it. Early one Monday morning, halfway around the M25 motorway that circles London, the engine literally blew up. The recovery driver said the engine had melted. Not a regular breakdown.

Two perfect metaphors for the same thing. Something inside me needed dealing with, and I was working around it at all costs. Eventually it forced itself to my attention the only way it could and like my sports car I was stopped in my tracks.

What I Found

It was never really about the money. It was about not feeling loved enough.

The breakdown was the best thing that ever happened to me, although some people find that strange to hear. What it did was force me to stop. For the first time in years I had to pause, and the pause gave me space to ask the question I had been avoiding for years. Why am I doing what I am doing?

I did not get there straight away. It was not a bolt of lightning. But over time I realised I was not happy with who I was, and on some level I did not feel loved enough. The honest truth is that growing up I felt that way around my dad, and so my whole life became about trying to impress him. His language of love was money and success. So I made that my language too.

The big realisation was that no amount of external success would have fixed it. If I had become the next Richard Branson it still would not have filled the hole. The only way to fill it is from the inside, by going to the parts of you that do not feel good enough and healing them there. That is the work. And once you know how to do it, you can do it for yourself for the rest of your life.

Everything on the outside is a reflection of what is happening on the inside. Change the inside, and the outside follows.

The Core Tools

Three tools at the heart of the Hero Process

Every hero on a real quest needs the right tools. On this journey you will meet your dragons: the fears, the doubts, the insecurities. You will need a way to see beneath them, a way to work through what they bring up, and a way to know which step to take next. These three tools are what do that work. Together, they form the engine room of the entire Hero Process.

Tool One

The Feel It Process

The heavy lifter.

This is the tool that does most of the heavy lifting for you. The Hero's journey is going to bring up fears, doubts, and insecurities. You need something to work through them when they arise, and the Feel It Process is exactly that.

It works by tuning into the emotion sitting beneath whatever has been triggered, and feeling it through. The part of you that did not feel good enough, the part that felt hurt or rejected, gets healed at the level it lives at. The button is no longer there to be pressed. It is genuinely life-changing in its own right, and you only need to learn it once. From there it stays with you forever.

Tool Two

Following Your Intuition

Learning to follow your heart over your head.

The second tool is learning to follow your inner guidance. To know what the right next step is, and what it is not. To follow your heart over your head. It is a skill set we all need to learn, and almost none of us were taught.

Most people spend their lives running everything through the head, weighing it, second-guessing it, and ending up paralysed or in the wrong place entirely. Once you learn to feel the answer rather than think your way to it, the path forward becomes much clearer. The Hero Process teaches you exactly how to do this, and how to trust it.

Tool Three

Go Deeper

Seeing what is really beneath the reaction.

When something triggers us, upsets us, or brings up a strong emotion, the surface reaction is rarely the whole story. Go Deeper is the tool for seeing beneath it. There is almost always a deeper truth beneath our reactions.

We might be upset by something someone said. But when you go deeper, you see which part of you is actually upset. It could be the inner child or it might be a part of you that feels let down, betrayed, or angry. By identifying that part clearly, you can then work with it, heal it, and transform it, getting it to a good place so that the button is no longer there to be pressed even at the surface level. Changing things at the root cause level in this way changes your experience of reality, and how you react in a similar situation the next time.

These are the tools. Here is how to learn them.

How It Works

Identifying what you want, and then moving towards it.

Armed with the three tools, the Hero Process does the bigger work. It helps you get clear on what you actually want. It develops your intuition so you know which next step to take. And it teaches you how to see what is really sitting beneath your blocks.

Most of the time we think the problem is the obvious thing. Someone says something that upsets us, and we get angry at them. But it is never really about them. They are the gift, the messenger showing you what is going on inside yourself. Which part of you did not feel good enough? Which part felt hurt by what was said? Once you know that, the Feel It Process lets you change that part of you. The button is no longer there to be pressed.

Underneath all of it, the work is changing your beliefs about yourself and about the world. Whether you feel worthy. Whether you feel deserving. Whether you believe good things happen to good people. Whatever it is your beliefs quietly say, they can be changed at the level they actually live at. And as they change, what shows up in your life changes with them.

This is the inner work. It is also why the Hero Process works. Everything on the outside is a reflection of what is happening on the inside, so the moment you have the tools to change the inside, you have the tools to change the outside too.

The Transformation

From "make a million pounds" to "help a million people".

I had a client, Adrianne, who came to me very business focused. Her goal was to make a million pounds. We worked together. She was probably a three or four out of ten happy when we started. After about seven months of one-to-one coaching, she got to a place where she was nine or even ten out of ten happy most days. That is her default level now. Things still come up, of course, but that is where she returns to.

One day Adrianne came into a session and said, you know what, I do not want to make a million pounds anymore. I just feel really happy as I am. What would actually feel even more joyful would be to help a million people.

That is often the transition. You go from "make a million pounds" to "help a million people". From it being all about getting, to it being all about giving. Because you finally feel full.

This is the level of shift the Hero Process makes possible. The work changes how you feel about yourself at the level it actually lives at. You stop needing the thing. And from that place, almost anything becomes possible.

The 10 out of 10 question is one I still ask myself every day. If I am only a nine, that means something is there to look at. Nine is still very happy, but the Hero Process is built around that level of honesty with yourself. It is what keeps the work alive.

From People Who've Done the Work

The Hero Process, in their own words.

Three of the many clients who have walked this journey with Adam. Adrianne, Kaz, and Tessa each came in for different reasons and left with the same set of tools they still use today.

“Stuck? Wondering what to do next? Where to go? Then Adam’s your man! Starting my own business, bringing a new concept to market, delivering the proposition and finding my true purpose, were all challenges I faced and yet the majority of the blockages preventing me from fulfilling my dream, were unknown, at a surface level to me. I immediately felt safe in Adam’s hands. Working with his excellent intuition, I travelled down many routes, to clear the energies, to release my fears and allow me to flourish. I find using the tools I learned in our sessions, on a daily basis, to be enormously beneficial, helping to keep me on track, to keep me in flow. I highly recommend Adam and his work, he’s an absolute life changer, a master at what he does.”

Tessa Guy

Founder of In Mind In Body

“Working with Adam is a life-changing experience and getting to know and understand my life purpose is a game changer in so many ways. He helps, and makes, me do the difficult work of getting in touch with what I really need to do. It is a journey of amazing self-discovery and I can say with certainty that I have never felt as happy as I do now. That’s not to say life is perfect but I now understand I am exactly where I need to be to learn and grow. My levels of joy most days are 9/10 and when they’re not, I have the tools to change it. Thank you, thank you, thank you Adam.”

Adrianne Carter

The Face Whisperer

“I have worked with Adam over several years now. He has really helped me to consider my life and move forward with the projects I am most passionate about, clearing the fears, doubts and hidden patterns that we all have that I felt were holding those projects back. Adam has a finely-honed intuition and can clearly see what changes need to happen to remove blockages that you don’t even know are there until you let them go. It’s hard to put into words how he works: it’s a combination of coaching, energy work and refocusing your intention. All I can say is, it really works! I would highly recommend him and his work.”

Sara Davenport

Founder of Breast Cancer Haven & ReBoot Health

“I was introduced to Adam by a trusted friend and I’m so grateful that she did. At that time I was not in a great place, I felt lost and anxious. I was also facing some staffing issues with my business. Over the course of the initial programme Adam helped me work through all the issues that were playing out in my life and at the end of each session I came away feeling much better and with a fresh, more positive outlook. By the end of the programme I felt like a new man. Even my wife has commented! I feel happier, stronger, more confident and have made big changes in my business. At the start of our work together Adam took a photo of me where you can hardly see me, it’s dark, my head is bowed and that pretty much reflected how I felt at the time. Fast forward to the end of the programme and he took another picture where the light is shining in, I’m sitting tall and beaming. That’s what Adam does. He’ll take you from dark to light. Adam’s truly a master at what he does. He is able to intuitively see what is really going on and has the tools to help you change. It’s powerful stuff and I recommend him without hesitation.”

Common Questions

Everything you might be "wondering".

What is the Hero Process?

The Hero Process is the life coaching methodology Adam Tallamy developed over more than a decade of coaching hundreds of clients. It is a way to find happiness, get what you want, and ultimately to find and live your life purpose. It combines three core tools, the Feel It Process, Go Deeper, and learning to follow your intuition, with a step by step methodology for clearing inner blocks and moving towards what you actually want.

What is the Feel It Process?

The Feel It Process is the core inner-work tool at the heart of the Hero Process. It is used to clear the fears, doubts, emotional blocks, and limiting beliefs that quietly run most people's lives. It works by tuning into the emotion sitting beneath the surface trigger and feeling it through, so the part of you that has been hurt or insecure is healed at the level it actually lives at. Once you have learnt it, you have it for life. Learn more about the Feel It Process.

What is Go Deeper?

Go Deeper is one of the core three tools of the Hero Process. When something triggers or upsets you, there is almost always a deeper truth beneath the surface reaction. Go Deeper is the tool for seeing exactly what that is. It identifies which part of you is reacting, whether that is the inner child, a part that feels let down, betrayed, or angry, and by identifying it clearly you can then work with it, heal it, and transform it. The button is no longer there to be pressed, and how you react in a similar situation the next time genuinely changes.

How is the Hero Process different from normal life coaching?

Most life coaching focuses on goals and accountability at the surface level. The Hero Process works at two levels at the same time. At the surface it helps you set clear goals and take the right next step. Underneath, it teaches you how to see what is really blocking you and change the parts of yourself that are quietly getting in the way. This combination of practical action and deep inner work is why the results last.

Is the Hero Process similar to therapy or CBT?

The Hero Process does these things and it also works directly with the emotional and energetic parts of you that are running the patterns. It combines coaching, inner work, and intuition-based tools in a way that most traditional approaches do not. It is not a replacement for professional mental health support where that is needed, but for people who feel stuck, unclear, or held back from what they want, it works at a level other approaches typically do not reach.

Can the Hero Process help with anxiety?

Yes. Adam Tallamy has used this process to help many people overcome intense and even crippling anxiety. Anxiety is often a surface symptom of something sitting deeper, a part of you that does not feel safe, confident, or worthy. The Hero Process, and particularly the Feel It Process and Go Deeper tools, work at exactly that level. Many clients have found that what they thought was a permanent feature of their personality significantly reduces or disappears entirely as the underlying parts are identified and healed.

That said, Adam is a life coach rather than a therapist, and for clinical anxiety disorders professional medical or therapeutic support should always be sought alongside any coaching work.

Do I need to be in London to work with Adam?

No. Adam is based in London and works with clients in person there, but the majority of his clients work with him online. He has coached people across the UK, the United States, particularly in Los Angeles, and worldwide. Most of Adam's life coaching clients are based in LA currently. Online sessions are just as effective as in-person ones.

About the Hero Process

A life coaching methodology built on inner work and practical action.

The Hero Process is the life coaching methodology developed by Adam Tallamy, one of London and the UK's top life coaches and life purpose coaches. It has been refined over more than a decade of one to one coaching with hundreds of clients in London, Los Angeles, and around the world. It combines clear practical goal-setting with deeper inner work, which is why the results consistently last.

At the heart of the methodology sit three core tools. The Feel It Process is used to clear the fears, doubts, and emotional blocks that quietly run most people's lives. Go Deeper is the tool for seeing beneath a reaction or trigger to the deeper truth that lies beneath it, identifying the part of you that is hurting so it can be worked with, healed, and transformed. Learning to follow your intuition over your intellect is the third, and it teaches you how to know the right next step before the head can talk you out of it. Used together, they give you the means to face whatever the journey brings up and to keep moving toward what you actually want.

The Hero Process is designed to be portable. You learn it once and you have it for life. It is how clients have found their life purpose, cleared long-standing patterns, and made changes they had long assumed were not possible. It is the foundation of every coaching relationship Adam takes on, and the spine of the upcoming Hero Process book.

If you want to see what working with this methodology looks like in practice, the Life Coaching Process page walks you through the practical six-stage journey clients take inside 1-2-1 coaching. Or you can book a free 20-minute discovery call to talk about your situation directly.
